Welcome to the Y Club.

Centrally situated in Castlefield, Manchester’s Y Club is the largest and friendliest health club within the city centre. It’s a relaxed, non-intimidating environment, where you will fit in whether you’re a rookie, a serious fitness enthusiast – or anything in between.

With the range of activities available through your membership you will not find better value for money. We offer our members a way of life, with fully qualified staff offering encouragement alongside challenging and fun exercise programmes suitable for all levels of fitness. As a Y Club member you can choose from over 70 of Manchester's most innovative exercise classes each week including zumba®, bodypump®, yoga, circuit training, badminton and much more.To help you fit these into your busy schedule, classes are timed to last from 30 minutes up to 90 minutes and are spread throughout our opening times. All our classes are included in the gym membership offering you that little bit more.

New Refurbished Gym!!

The Y Club is currently undergoing a gym refurbishment with the upgrading and refurbishment of some of our facilities. These include:
• Enlarged free weights area.
• New free weight equipment. This will include the addition of Precor plate loaded equipment.
• A larger cardio area.
• Designated stretch area.
• New functional training area.
Our new cardio area and free weights area are now open! The new functional training area will open on the 15th December with our new plate loaded equipment arriving on the 15th December as well.

Rugby Fives At The Y Club

We are pleased to announce that we now have specified times for people who are wanting to learn / play Rugby Fives.
Rugby Fives is a game that is fast, fun and great for fitness, and can be enjoyed by players of all standards. It is played in both the singles and the doubles formats in a four-sided court. Players – using leather gloves worn on both hands – aim to hit the ball above the bar running across the front wall, so that the opposition cannot return it before the second bounce.

Below is a timetable we have created outlining the times and days the rugby Fives will be taught / played on the courts along with the names of the people that will be there to help on those days.

New classes for March at the Y Club

OMG – Tuesday 7.15am – 8am 

OMG is a 45 minute workout using variety of high intensity, body weight exercises and a mixture of equipment.  The workout will allow you to compete against yourself and push you to your maximum every single time you take part.

Each window of exercise involves alternating high intensity exercises for small periods of time, followed by short periods of rest.  You body will be taken to a higher level of fitness at the same time as helping you burn calories and build endurance. This class will leave you feeling exhilarated and enable you to achieve the results you desire quickly.

We guarantee you will leave saying OMG!

Metafit  - Tuesday 5.45pm – 6.15pm

The latest fitness craze  comes to Y Club!

The Metafit bodyweight training system aims to boost the metabolism and burn fat. You will also benefit from increased muscle tone, which you do not benefit from with a cardio activity, as well as increased stamina. Increased muscle mass speeds up the Metabolism which means you can continue to burn calories for up to 24 hours after you leave the class.

Although results vary you can burn up to 900kals in one session and over the next 24 hours!All these benefits for a short, 30 Minute workout!

Tabata – Thursday 7.15am – 8am

Tabata is a high intensity interval style workout that will take you to higher levels of fitness, helping you to burn calories and build endurance. Each window of time involves a high intensity exercise for 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest for a total of 4 minutes. This small rest period let’s the individual recover enough between exercises to work to their maximum in each small window of time.

Tabata is an extremely effective and useful way of improving performance and achieving results. This class will leave you feeling exhilarated, setting you up for the day ahead and enable you to achieve the results you desire quickly. Tabata is a great class to supplement your existing training programme.

TRX suspension training coming soon to Y Club Manchester.

TRX is unlike any other training technique. TRX will challenge your body in ways you never experienced before and also awaken muscles you thought you never had by using your own body weight for resistance. Fantastic for your core balance and stability as well as helping to sculpt your body and improve your muscle balance. With a variation of exercises that can be adapted to make your workout more challenging, TRX delivers a fast and effective total body workout. This class is suitable for all ages and abilities (health permitting).

New Kettlercise class at the Y Club

Kettlercise takes the basics from Kettlebells putting them into an exercise class. Kettlercise is a quick but challenging workout designed for fat loss and fitness gain. The 30 minute class combines cardio and strength training helping to improve your core and flexibility. Kettlercise can help you burn up to 20 calories a minute; this class is suitable for all ages and abilities (health permitting).
