Yoga: We offer various styles of yoga here at the Y Club. Yoga focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing. Regular yoga practice can be beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains – including lower back pain, depression and stress. Our yoga classes are suitable for people of all ages and abilities – it is never too late to start!
Beginners Yoga: Come and learn how to improve your strength, flexibility, breathing and stamina at our beginners’ yoga class. This class will explore yoga postures in more detail focusing on safety and dynamic/static variations. The class consists of a warm up, posture work, core stability, back bending, floor work and inversions. It is never too late to start and our classes are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Iyengar Yoga: Iyengar yoga emphasises on detail, precision and alignment in postures. It can also help to relieve the mind and body of the stress of everyday life. Iyengar yoga usually makes use of props including blocks and belts enabling you to perform the postures correctly. Iyengar yoga is a spiritual practice aimed at bringing together the mind, body and spirit though alignment of postures and breathing.
Power Yoga: This is an intensive yoga workout class which is suitable for all levels. At our power yoga class you will increase your flexibility, muscle stamina and tone, posture and body alignment.
Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa yoga is a discipline that utilises postures and breathing techniques. This form of yoga offers a range of health benefits to those who practice it, as it encompasses all areas of the mind, body and spirit.
