Which Class Do You Recommend

19th February 2017

Y Club PT Reece is always getting asked this question. People who attend the gym and want to start joining classes 9 times out of 10 will always ask instructors or staff what classes do they recommend for them to take part in, I know I get asked this question a lot. There are many classes that are fun, effective and at the same time challenging for everyone to get involved in, but I will always recommend the kettlebell class. I find it’s a very effective way of training that benefits people of all fitness levels. Whether you are overweight or unfit to being super fit it’s irrelevant, you will melt down fat and burn calories with the type of functional exercises the kettlebell is designed for. Working on both your strength and toning and your body and core, it’s an all-round great physical full body workout.

What is a kettlebell and what makes a great kettlebell class?
A kettlebell is literally a ball made out of cast iron with a handle attached. It’s not made for kicking or throwing hence why it has a handle. Its designed so that you can use many functional workouts to condition your body and work up a sweat, unlike using adumbbell where you are a lot more limited. Popular exercises you will find in classes are the kettlebell swings, squat press, and many more great exercises that are quiet easy to learn and easy to pick up the correct technique.

When it comes to teaching a kettlebell class beginners will usually ask what weight they should use. I always recommend for women 6kg to 12kg and for men 8kg to 14kg just to start off. I will always demonstrate the exercises before starting the clock and getting the class working, at that point I will go and help people who are struggling with their technique and help them correct it. You need good music and energy when teaching the class. That has always worked for me as an instructor and I have always got good energy and feedback for the class. So if you would like a good new class to take part in I definitely recommend you give the kettlebell class a go you won’t regret it.
