Everybody knows it is recommended to eat your 5 a day just to maintain your general health and get the vitamins and nutrients your body needs. Commonly people will more than likely have things like apples, oranges, pears and bananas in there day to day routines. There is no problem with that, however there are even more powerful tasty and exotic fruits that we can get right here in the UK that most people haven’t even heard of,

Over the coming weeks I will be introducing different fruits. First Fruit – Jackfruit

First on my list is my favourite fruit of them all.  Jackfruit is the largest fruit you will ever get your hands on, if you are lucky enough to do so. Not only does it taste fantastic its nutritional values are amazing. Here are a few key facts about this amazing fruit which I first experienced when I was on holiday in Jamaica. It was honestly the best fruit I have ever tasted. I found it to have a slight bubble-gum flavour crossed with banana and mango. It really does have its own unique smell and taste and when it is ripe it   is very sweet.

The origin

Jackfruit is believed to have originated in Southern India thousands of years ago, but is now widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world: SE Asia, South America, Australia and the Caribbean where it has been enjoyed both in ripe and young forms.

 Health Benefits of Jackfruit
